Creative Approaches to Dementia Awareness

Healing Through Humor & Storytelling

Use Storytelling & Humor to Drive Impact

Through innovative programs that combine storytelling, humor, and health education, The ARC expands dementia awareness and strengthens community engagement. By blending comedy with care, wellness, and research, we create approachable, stigma-reducing experiences that make it easier for families to learn about Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Our initiatives use culturally relevant communication to break down complex health topics, helping caregivers better understand symptoms, progression, and available support resources.

We incorporate humor into events, workshops, and community initiatives throughout the year to foster connection, increase participation, and improve knowledge retention. These programs address critical health topics ranging from early detection and caregiving strategies to mental health and long-term planning. All programs are led by African American experts who understand the unique needs of Black families impacted by dementia. By centering trusted voices and culturally competent education, we help communities feel seen, supported, and empowered to take action.
