Meet the Founder of The Arc Dementia

Dr Janetta Brown

Dr. Janetta Brown is a graduate of Spelman College
and North Carolina A&T State University having earned a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics, Bachelors of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering!

Dr. Brown is the Founder and CEO of THE ARC, which stands for The HBCU Experience – Alzheimer’s Research Consortium, LLC. THE ARC was hand-picked by the National Institute on Aging as a pioneering company exemplary of diversifying aging research, advancing the empowerment of dementia caregivers, and leading the development of health technology.

THE ARC’s mission is to provide solutions for families affected by Dementia by engaging them with unique opportunities to be equipped, informed, and proactive throughout their care journey. Having cared for both of her grandmothers, diagnosed with Dementia, for over 10 years, she leverages the insights that her own family has gained while navigating chronic disease management.

As a widely-published product developer for award-winning mobile health technology, Dr. Brown has traveled the world presenting her research but is sure to bring everything she has learned back to local communities to help change the way we approach dementia caregiving within the black population.
